When dying Julius Ceasar said these words on 15 March 44 B.E., he could not have expected that already in a couple dozen years a great harbour would be erected barely two hundred kilometres south of the Eternal City and that the most affluent patrician families would build exquisite villas in Baia, overlooking the bay. Rats! Our trip to Italy, prepared for two months, was supposed to be so great and such a huge screw-up took place already at the beginning! On our approach to Fiumicino, thick clouds hid the ground from us. Finally, when our Airbus A320 touched down, outside the tiny windows we could see a grey and gloomy face of the “sunny Italy”.
