Its sub $1000 price tag will offer an attractive proposition for Nikon SLR film users who are considering a move into the digital world. Nikon SLR cameras are the most widely used housed cameras underwater. This is due mainly to the TTL flash compatibility with Nikonos strobes which many underwater photograpers already had in their armoury. For those Nikon film users, the new D70 can use their existing lenses albeit with a 50% increase in focal length to produce image quality which is knocking on the door of a direct replacement for film.
